MarkJar privacy policy
MarkJar is a native macOS application by Bored Jar, S.L. (boredjar.com). This policy is short because the facts are: the app collects no data whatsoever.
What data we collect
None.
- The app has no internet connectivity: it makes no network requests of any kind, outbound or inbound.
- There are no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no trackers.
- There are no user accounts, sign-ups, or logins.
- We do not embed any third-party SDKs, libraries, or services that collect data.
- We do not receive, transmit, sell, or share information with anyone - because we never have any.
Where your data lives
Your documents are plain Markdown (.md) files, stored wherever on your Mac you choose to save them. They are yours: you can read, copy, move, or delete them with any other app, with no dependency on MarkJar.
App settings (theme, language, recent documents, editor preferences) and any templates you save are stored locally on your Mac using the system's standard mechanisms. They never leave your machine.
The app's Quick Look extension likewise operates only on local files and collects or transmits nothing.
iCloud, Dropbox, and other sync services
If you choose to keep your documents in a synced folder (for example, iCloud Drive or Dropbox), that syncing is performed by the respective provider under its own privacy policy and your relationship with it. MarkJar plays no part in that syncing: to the app, those are simply local files.
Purchases
The app is purchased through Apple's Mac App Store. MarkJar receives no personal or payment data related to your purchase; that process is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages. Since no data is collected at all, no data is collected from children either.
Your rights
Regulations such as the GDPR grant rights over personal data that a controller processes. MarkJar processes no personal data, so there is nothing held by us to access, correct, or delete. If you have any questions regardless, please get in touch.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes (for example, if a future version added functionality that required it), we will publish the updated version on this page with a new effective date.
